Holiday Wreaths

I am now hooked on making Tulle Wreaths at the moment. During Christmas time the following wreaths were made our of a Styrofoam wreath and tulle. Here are my first attempts at a Reindeer and Santa Clause tulle wreaths. Super simple and lots of fun to make! :)

Heart Wreaths

Take a short break from making blankets to make some wreaths.
Since it was almost Valentine's Day when I started, I made some heart tulle wreath.

Creative Time - Blue, White and Black Diaper Cake

For this cake I was given creative license... The expecting couple sent me 2-3 pictures of cakes they had seen and liked. So I took this opportunity to combine the ideas and make them into one cake. The theme was Tiffany Blue with pearls, flowers and tulle.  This cake ended up as a 5 tier cake with black tulle, white and blue flowers, a pearl M on the top, and a special accent of little baby feet in the 3 center tiers on top of the blue ribbon.

Owls

I love making special requests even though it might be a challenge finding ribbon or accessories that are needed. However, this request turned into alot of fun. Owls were the theme of the cake and I started to do some research into bibs and ribbon. Guess what! I found something even cooler than a traditional cake. Instead I made one that looked like an owl! Woohooo!!!!!

Ears: Piper cleaner and socks
Eyes: Diapers and flowers
Beak: Washcloth
Chest: Diapers and bib
Holding the owl together and the wings: ribbon and a receiving blanket!

Not only did I make the owl, but when I placed him on the bottom tier of diapers the back just looked plain, so I added travel size baby products, an owl hand puppet on top of a baby bottle, spoons, and pacifiers. Also added some little owl clothes pins, along with a little wooden owl where I wrote the baby's name (displayed in first picture)

Winnie the Pooh

I received a special request to make a Winnie the Pooh diaper cake and then was asked to make a blanket at the same time. Since the expecting parents were not going to know the gender of the baby, we decided to go with a light blue backing for the blanket to accent the honey pots. The diaper cake was a 4 tier cake with classic pooh bee hives and accessories like bibs, brush and comb set, spoons, washcloths, socks, trial size baby lotion and shampoo, pacifiers along with the Winnie the Pooh topper. In addition the blanket was wrapped inside a Winnie the Pooh box that was purchased with the diapers, which completed the whole package.

Christmas....

Christmas was fast approaching and I needed some unique gift ideas. I found and idea to do what I like to call scrapbooking on canvas. Most people would say that seems challenging, but I said, "Let's give it a try". I have to say not every single one I did came out as good as I had hoped. However, the one you will see below, came out better then excepted. I gave it as a gift to the mother the little girl and look on her face was one of pure joy and appreciation.

To make this canvas photo the following steps were taken:
1) Use some artist glue (will get the name of what I used and update this item later) to attach the scrapbook paper to canvas.
2) Added strips of canvas to the sides to cover the canvas - later figured out that ribbon works better and looks clearner.
3) Added the photo to the center of the paper.
4) Added the stickers for the baloons and border of the photo.
5) Covered the whole page with the same glue as a protective coating
6) Although it is hard to see.... finished it off with some puff craft paint along the board to cover the canvas was still exposed along the edge.

I was recently at the house where this picture was given and it is still hanging on the wall after a year and looks as good as when it first was given. :)

Clothes Pin Flag Wreath

I took a little break from making blankets and cakes. I decided to try out this clothes pin flag wreath idea. It took me awhile to make since I hand painted every clothes pin along with all the stars. After all the pins dried and I was putting it together, I was very pleased with the results. I should also add that the secret receiver of this gift absolutely loved it and hung it up on his wall to be proudly displayed all year long.

Hope you like the results too!
